Robeson Creek Boat Ramp

Ever tried finding a new boat ramp that doesn't have an address? Well, I have an it's not a fun way to start your fishing day, trailering a boat and being lost. Also, wouldn't you like to see if boat ramps have docks, nice loading areas and decent parking? Every time I go to a new boat landing, I'll post a quick summary with pictures, so you can checkout each boat ramp landing.

ROBESON CREEK BOAT RAMP- (Click link to see on Google Maps)
Accessed from US-64 across Jordan Lake (midway between Pittsboro and Apex)
Watch for the sign at the entrance road
From Hwy 64---Turn on Foxfire Trace, Turn Left on Dee Farrell Road, Turn Left on Hanks Chapel Road, and go past Tiger Rescue on Right Side....Canoe access is on left, continue and TURN LEFT at sign for Robeson Boat Access.

Robeson Creek Boat Landing

Robeson Creek is equipped with 2 landing slips and 1 floating dock. The loading is fairly deep (when the lake water is high...like in this picture) and you can access with a larger Bay Boat.

Robeson Creek Parking

Parking lot will hold about 40 Rigs, but Robeson Creek tends to be the less trafficked boat ramps, compared to Ebenezer and Crosswinds.

Just a reminder to you night time catfishermen,
Park Hours: Nov thru Feb 8a-6p; Mar and Oct 8a-7p; Apr and Sep 8a-8p; May thru Aug 8a-9p.

Robeson Creek (looking from Dock)

Robeson Creek channel is 20-30' deep (when water level is up, like in this picture), so deep hull boats can access the Haw River and head down to Lake Jordan and the Dam from Robeson.

Windy Day on Lake Jordan

February 19th, 2011
Well, we battled the wind yesterday, along with the other 30 boats. Wind gusts up to 30 mph, air temp in the mid-sixties and lake water in the upper-forties. Most of the boats were pan fishing (crappie and bream). We chose to- "go big or go home"-Largemouth Bass, baby.

We dropped in at Robeson Creek Boat ramp off Hwy 64 (turn on Foxfire Trace and follow the signs to Robeson Creek) around 9:30am. Started fished along the left side, using the wind to propel us towards the Haw River. Unfortunately, the wind was so strong that it pushed us much too fast and we didn't cover the ground we wanted to. Mother-nature, doing her thing.

Fished most of the day using GULP-June Bug 6'' worms (Texas Rig with 1/8 bullet sinker). The Bass were super slow to react and bites were "soft". Seemed like the Bass would pick up the bait and drop it as soon as it felt the work move. With the "soft" bites and 30mph wind, who knows how many fish we really missed.

We finally worked our way up the Haw River, and caught our only fish of the day around 1pm.

This Largemouth Bass was sitting in 8-10' water, underneath a fallen tree. He hit on a GULP-June Bug 6'' worm (Texas rig). This Bass actual hit the lure like spring time and fought quite well. I was working the lure extremely slow and popping the lure every so often. Continued to fish the Haw River, but that seemed to be the only fish we could raise.

Then, we raced south down the Haw River to Jordan to get out the wind, but the bass must have been napping because we didn't get another bite the rest of the day. We called it quits around 3:30pm.

It was great to be back out on the lake and looking forward to the Spring spawn.

Check back soon.
